Employee Shareholders

If you watched the budget you would have heard the triumphant re-announcement of the employee shareholder scheme and the further tax benefits proposed.

If you watched the House of Lords debate only a few hours afterwards you would have heard them vote against the employee shareholder legislation (found within the Enterprise and Regulatory Reform Bill). Despite the Government announcing its plans for this legislation to be in place by the autumn the House of Lords have thrown a spanner in the works. It is now for the Government to decide whether they intend to revive it or allow the Bill to pass without the employee shareholder parts.
