Regulatory
The tax, VAT & employment law jurisdictions that we specialise in also come with a number of regulatory compliance requirements and risks that our clients require advice and guidance on. Whether these risks are governed by regulations and/ or policed by a regulator, we are on hand to advise our clients in these crucial and nuanced areas.
Complete, Precise and Detailed
At Chartergates we pride ourselves on providing our clients with a complete, precise and detailed service. We do this by not only specialising in the legal aspects of tax, VAT & employment law but also in many of the most important and relevant regulatory compliance risks including:
CITB Levy – We are experts in determining whether a business falls within the levy and can assist with precise calculations of the levy in a variety of circumstances.

GDPR & Data Protection – We can assist clients with the detailed processes and policies necessary to comply with data protection legislation and with any challenges, including subject access requests businesses may receive.
Right to Work Checks – Whether you need advice on what checks to conduct and when or, you need help responding to a Civil Penalty Notice we are on hand to provide the advice and support you need.
The Conduct of Employment Agencies and Employment Businesses Regulations 2003 – The ‘Conduct Regs’ are effectively the rulebook for recruitment businesses and as such, we are able to provide the precise and detailed advice and drafting to ensure our clients are compliant while remaining commercially viable.
Employment Agency Standards Inspectorate (EAS) – The EAS are the regulatory body charged with overseeing the recruitment industry and ensuring that the Conduct Regs and Employment Agencies Act are complied with. We are not only able to advise clients on how to comply with the relevant legislation, but we can also represent clients should the EAS commence an inspection.
Security Industry Authority (SIA) – The SIA is the regulator of the UK’s private security industry with a wide range of enforcement and inspection powers. We have advised a number of clients on issues relating to employment status in the security industry and on whether businesses and by extension their directors require SIA licences in order to operate in the industry.
Research & Development (R&D) – We do not advise on R&D computations or assist with the application for R&D tax credits. We do however, work with accountants, R&D consultants and directly with businesses in situations where HMRC challenge the legal right of a business to apply for R&D tax credits.
