Hilary Oldham FCA

Having obtained her degree in mathematics from Oxford University, Hilary went on to qualify as a Chartered Accountant.  Following this Hilary entered professional practice at a nationwide practice showing an aptitude for various areas of taxation.

After 7 years in the professional practice, she decided to expand her skills and worked for a medium-sized group of companies in the East Midlands with a wide range in lines of business, from the food industry, to builders’ merchants and construction.  She quickly progressed to become the group financial director and within that role undertook VAT compliance accumulating a vast knowledge of VAT in a range of areas and how they impact day to day business practice and records.  Hilary’s first-hand experience of business places her in the perfect position to ensure her advice is not only technically accurate but also commercially sound.

Following many years in business, Hilary then decided to specialise in VAT and became a VAT consultant at a large advisory practice, and in that role provided advice to other accountants, with an enthusiasm for clarity and accuracy, making explanations of the complex VAT legislation in a manner that is easy for the layman to understand and practical within the client’s business.
