Zubair Ahmed LL.B (Hons) LL.M

Zubair graduated with a First-Class Honours in his law degree (LLB) and completed his Masters in Law (LLM) with a distinction, specialising in worker status in the Gig-Economy and the changes to IR35 both in the public sector and the private sector. Zubair has also gone on to complete the Legal Practice Course (LPC) at BPP University Law School where he also achieved a distinction.  These excellent academic credentials have been reflected throughout Zubair’s career and it continues to do so in his role as Technical Lead at Chartergates.

Having started his career working within an in-house legal department, Zubair went on to work at a top international London law firm within the employment law department, where he gained years’ of experience prior to joining Chartergates in 2014. Since joining Chartergates, Zubair specialises in both tax and employment law, representing clients against HMRC on various matters including PAYE, CIS and employment status enquiries. Zubair advises on all tax and employment law matters relating to different forms of engagements with the aim of providing accurate risk analysis, but also providing both commercially and legally sound solutions to such risks.

Zubair also specialises in commercial labour supply audits on behalf of end-users designed to audit compliance from a regulatory, contractual, tax and employment law perspective, which includes a detailed audit of payroll procedures. These audits ensure every aspect of the supply of labour is audited and clearly identifies all of the non-compliant areas. Zubair believes in working with end-users to design a tailored audit scope to ensure that the client’s requirements are met, and any concerns are addressed.

It goes without saying, Zubair believes in paying close attention to detail, advising clients by addressing their needs directly and providing straight-forward succinct advice.

Zubair is our Technical Lead in the areas of – the Apprenticeship Levy, the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) levy, the Immigration Act and the Employment Agencies Standards Inspectorate.
